Soft marine clays deposit widely in the eastern coast regions of China, especially in Lian yungang, Nantong, Yancheng in Jiangshu province. Due to the high compressibility, low bearing capacity and high sensitivity, the large settlement, instability, even crazing and sliding of embankment built on such ground are often encountered in engineering practice. The Institute of Geotechnical Engineering of Southeast University and the Freeway Construction Directing Office of Jiangshu Province jointly perform the project, research on the Properties of Jiangshu Marine Clay and its Engineering Application. ,This project was authorized by Transport Bureau of Jiangshu Provience. Research contents are shown as follow:
